Geocache Description:

***************************************************************

This cache is not at the posted coordinates, you will need to solve a puzzle to find it.

***************************************************************

what3words:

While geocaches are placed at locations specified by a 7-digit latitude and a 7- to 8-digit longitude, for other precision location applications that's a lot to try to remember. what3words has devised a system for precise locating where the GPS coordinates (throughout the entire world) are converted into unique and randomized 3-word addresses, each identifyng a 3-meter by 3-meter spot. The idea is that it is a lot easier to remember 3 simple words. The words are specified in a particular order, separated by dots (no spaces) between the words. For example, gave.brief.shaky is the address of the center of the Carillon Bells, in Dayton. Not to be confused with gave.shaky.brief, which is somewhere in Northern Ireland. This Related Webpage provides a converter between the three-word address and GPS coordinates.

What do you suppose you would find at navigated.salute.tolls? Hint: there is a well-known cache there.

The obvious uses for this system are many, and include precision addressing for package delivery, arranging a meeting place in a crowded stadium, creating silly mystery geocache puzzles, and several others. An additional feature is that the 3-word addresses are intentionally randomized and unrelated to the squares around them, and to avoid confusion, similar sounding addresses are also placed as far from each other as possible.

The Related Webpage may prove useful to solve the puzzle below. In addition, the what3words website and/or app online tool is available to help.

And now...

To find the cache, you will have to identify and locate three w3w addresses using the words below which are listed in alphabetical order. When you have identified the three correct addresses, you will have used all of the words in the list, and none that are not on it. From there, you should be able to determine the final location of the cache.

The word list:
  • assess
  • author
  • bearings
  • dressed
  • jogs
  • puzzles
  • ripe
  • scribbled
Good luck!
