The cache is a lock-and-lock hidden near Stillwater pond just off the white-marked Roaring Brook trail. You can reach the cache via the Roaring Brook trail from a parking location on Pudding Street, from the intersection with the Pelton Pond trail, or from the Pelton Pond Campground. You may also reach the trail from the Stillwater Pond parking lot off the Taconic Parkway for which parking and trailhead coordinates are provided. The entrance to the Stillwater Pond parking is locked and requires a free permit (with combination) that may be obtained at the Fahnestock State Park office on Route 301. From the Stillwater Pond parking, follow the blue-marked cross-country skiing/hiking trail in either direction around the pond until you reach the Roaring Brook trail.
