
Puntallana is a quiet village on the east coast of La Palma. Puntallana is the most eastern point on the island and because of this the village enjoys more sunshine than Santa Cruz and is less affected by the clouds that often hang over the higher altitudes on the east side of the island.
Iglesia de San Juan Bautista has been listed as a building of Cultural Interest in the category of monument by the goverment of the Canary Islands. It is worth highlighting the baroque altarpiece with gilded wood hosting the Patron Saint, a Flemish carving of the XV century, along with the baptismal pile and numerous sculptures. The church was one of the first religious temples raised on the island of La Palma.
The "Fuente de San Juan" is a spring from which the water gushes all year. It has officially been declared "corner for peace", the serenity of this place honours its name. Each year, the patron saint of the village, San Juan Bautista, is carried in procession to this spring in gratitude for the precious liquid.
Casa Lujan currently hosts an ethnographic museum, in which a former private house with their household effects is recreated, along with the local crafts shop. This building dates back to the XVII century and is a clear example of the traditional architecture in the Canary Islands. Located in the heart of the old town, it comprises two floors with a large walled patio outside.
