Rhubarb and custard Traditional Cache

This pedestrian and cycling footbridge provides safe crossing of a busy interchange and was revolutionary for its multilevel design when it was built in the 1970’s. It gets its local name of Rhubarb bridge from the days when the old M&GN railway ran along what is now the A47 over a bridge near this location. The railway embankments had been built using soil from local allotments and farms and rhubarb grew all over them! The small pedestrian bridge to the West which crosses the current railway tracks alongside the A47 is of course colloquially known as Custard bridge! You can park at nearby Maskew Avenue Retail Park. There is no access to the cache from any of the roads at this junction.
