During the National Trails Day 2018 CITO event, we placed this cache, to thank those that came out to help out. Throughout this CITO, members helped with trail maintenance, corridor clearing, and cleaning up various trails around South Park. We teamed up with REI, Trails PGH, and the Allegheny County Park Rangers for this CITO.
The cache that you are seeking for your hunt today is a medium size lock n lock container, with just a logbook in it. You will need to follow the trails below the wave pool parking lot to find this well placed cache. The trails are pretty easy to navigate as they are well worn in. You do not have to leave the trails until you are closer to the container. Its a small bushwhack from there. First to find will find a sweet little treat that they can enjoy at Dunkin Donuts.
The cache has been placed with permission from the Allegheny County Park Rangers. South Park is open from 8 AM to Midnight, 365 days a year. While you are in the park, enjoy the many other caches throughout the park. There are numerous picnic pavillions throughout the park as well. The wave pool that you parked in is open from June through August. Make a day out of it.
South Park is one of 9 county parks throughout Allegheny County. The other parks are: North Park, Round Hill Park, Whiteoak Park, Settler's Cabin, Deer Lakes, Hartwood Acres, Harrison Hills, and Boyce Park.
