Placed as my contribution to geocaching.com Hidden Creatures geocache hunt June 27 through July 25 2018, where geocachers can earn up to 13 mythical creature souvenirs by finding geocaches and attending events.
This cache is for the Kraken souvenir awarded after finding 7 geocaches and earning 7 points.
The kraken is a legendary sea monster of giant size that is said to dwell off the coasts of Norway and Greenland. It has been presumed that the legend originated from sightings of giant squids that may grow to 40–50 feet in length. The sheer size and fearsome appearance attributed to the kraken have made it a common ocean-dwelling monster in various fictional works.
