Kelland Bird Sanctuary is a beautiful spot in Randpark.There are 24 recorded wetland associated bird species. Small mammels have also been sighted in the area. There are three spruits that flow through The Kelland Bird Santuary..the Darrenwood Spruit, Fairland Spruit and the Klein Jukskei River. The Phragmites autralis reed is an indigenous common reed that is prolific in the Santuary. Their beautiful white flower heads are a sight to behold especially when the sun catches the flowers....the weaver birds also enjoy building their nests on the stalks. The bird santuary is  being cleared of alien vegetation at present, new indigenous trees are being planted..paths are being cleared which makes for a lovely walk about. Take a break and visit this beautiful spot and make your way down to the river....there are rocks to sit on, take in the beautiful sounds or take your camera along.

At the moment access to the Kelland Bird Sanctuary is only possible by obtaining the key to the gate from the Security Guard as you enter the Complex. Just mention that you want to go to the Bird Santuary and they will give you the key. It is only accessible from 8 am to 4pm Monday to Sunday.
