Rout of the rodents (Marlborough) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

capperz: Looks like this one is either gone, or not approachable when boggy, the Canterbury massive gave it a good go today too. Has done it's dash, time to open the space up for another from another.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to 'The Wetlands', an area of regenerating bush at the site of the Grovetown Lagoon. A group of locals, and associated helpers, are slowly but surely winning back the lagoons from their seemingly never ending battle with invasive species, weeds and critters. As part of the beautification of the area there is also a pest trapping program which aims to eradicate unwanted egg stealers and pests - hence the cache title. There is a pest trap nearby which is one of a series dotted around the area. This cache could also have been called Massacre of the mustellids, Murder of the Mice, Stymying of the Stoats etc etc.

The area can get boggy occasionally, hence the name 'The Wetlands', but you won't need to go into the marsh, there's a path all the way to within 10 metres of GZ.

When placed this cache held a piece of RITR paper inside a zipclock bag, please replace the cache back into place carefully.

We hope you enjoy your visit to this special area.
