Geocache Description:

Congratulations to FTF - 1tank2monkeys1mum!

Gem quite likes to chase squirrels around this tree. This particular cache is a small click lock box. It’s in a small bag which is a snug fit. Please take the time to replace back into the bag when replacing the cache.

This is a series of caches along the walk we regularly take with our dog Gem, hence the series name!

Parking is available at "Gem's Walk #1-Fetch" (GC7QE5T).

The caches are a mix of micro and small containers.  To ensure good condition of the cache please make sure all lids are properly closed.

As the country park is regularly used place, please ensure you place the caches back in exactly the same place.

Dearne Valley runs alongside the river for two miles from Old Mill to the Trans Pennine Trail viaduct at Lundwood.

The park is less than a mile from Barnsley town centre and is surrounded by the communities of Oakwell, Old Mill, Monk Bretton, Lundwood, Stairfoot and Hoyle Mill.

Thanks go to Russell Boland of Barnsley council for providing permission to place these caches. Please note, the fishermen are regulars to the country park and act as volunteer stewards, if anybody approaches you please don’t act suspicious and tell them about geocaching and the permission from Russell Boland.
