Cache is located at the site of the Amygdaloid Stamp Mill. Cache is located in the stamp sands, near the Montreal river. The Amygdaloid Mining Co's first mill was wooden and was destroyed in a forest fire in 1862. It was replaced with this rock walled mill to be fireproof. The smaller broken down section next to the ATV trail was the location of the two boilers. In 1864 a drunken worker caused a boiler explosion, destroying the building.
Easiest way to access is to go past cache to the east, turn down Sotala Road and then take the DNR ATV trail to the mill. There is not a lot of room to turn around at the mill, so you may want to park on Sotala Road and walk the trail.
