Cyclone Gita in February 2018 affected Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, American Samoa, Vanuatu, Queensland and New Zealand. It was described as "the most intense tropical cyclone to impact Tonga since reliable records began". By the time it arrived in New Zealand it was downgraded to an ex tropical cyclone. The heavy rainfall it brought caused severe damage in Tasman, particularly in western areas.

When I checked some months later, I found the steel guardrail that held it twisted, broken and useless. But I had a search and there was the cache just as I had placed it. What’s more, somehow the contents were dry. I found a new hiding place but you guessed it, I forgot to check if this was likely to be within 161 metres of the original. So, long story short, here is a new cache. Don’t be fooled by the writing in the log. You will recognize this as the new placement.
Make sure you park carefully and do take care on the road. Maybe the littlies should stay in the car.
