Geocache Description:

JaxParks and Visit Jacksonville are proud to bring you this geocache as part of the Inaugural Jacksonville Geocaching Challenge! In each JGC Geocache, you will find a stamp attached to the log book. Simply stamp your 2018 Jacksonville Geocaching Challenge Passport in the appropriate space as you visit each geocache. When you have collected 25 of the 30 stamps, you will qualify for the coin! For more information on the JGC Challenge, please visit the Jacksonville Geocaching Challenge website (link shown below) to download the official 2018 JGC Passport, review the rules and learn how to obtain a Geocoin. The website also has a brochure with the details of the JGC Challenge which you might find handy as you explore Jacksonville's great park system and other interesting places on the First Coast.

Please use stealth and replace the cache using natural camouflage.  If there has been heavy rain recently, there could be standing water in the area.  Please use the park's designated parking areas, and do not attempt to access the cache from the park's trails. this cache was originally a mandarin frog, but it wandered off and is now replaced with a small container big enough for a few trinkets, a log, and a travel bug or two.

Within Losco Regional Park's 210 acres, you will find hiking trails, soccer fields and picnic areas as well as a playground with a water feature.

What is a Mandarin Frog? No, a new species of frogs have not been discovered! A gentleman who can trace his family's Mandarin roots back to the 1700's found he had time on his hands after he retired. Years before he had purchased a frog mold with no idea what he was going to do with it. He decided it was time to start using it, so he began casting concrete frogs for friends and neighbors. Soon, he ran out of people to give the frogs to, so he began leaving them in parks and other odd places around Mandarin. People in Mandarin began noticing the frogs, wondering where they had come from and what they were for, which brought the story to the attention of a local television station and the newspaper.
