Geocache Description:

Named for one of my grand-daughters, this cache is hidden amongst rocks by a small burn flowing from a basin of land near Stillaig. Nearby is an old crumbling pier and further away some ruins (plus a more 'recent' cottage) which reflects the fact that in centuries gone by the area was a fishing haven. On the shore of the small sheltered bay to the east of the nearby isthmus there are still visible stumps of tall poles which were used for hoisting nets to dry in the 19th-century days of ring-net fishing. The burn beside the cache enters Port Leathan, a bay that is always shallow even at high tide. Around the mouth of the burn the water is brackish and here you can find lots of Fucus ceranoides (sometimes called the Horned Wrack), a brown seaweed that only flourishes in brackish water.

Park at 55°52'15.1"N 5°17'25.6"W and walk down the mile-long track; there are lovely views on this walk with at least two other caches near the track. The cache is a screw-top container in which the log sheet is inside a 35mm film canister. The cache is very evident, nestled at the base of a rock where it meets the grass/heather and with stones on top. You will need to bring your own pencil/pen. If the coords still seem a bit out (see two recent logs) I'll check them - again - in the autumn. The ratings simply reflect the mile-long walk from the main road and then walking westwards beside the beach towards the burn mouth. NOTE, there is a spoiler photograph in the gallery.
