Tur til Hálsur/Klakkur

If you want to see Klaksvík and neighboring islands from above, a trip to the lookout station Hálsur is highly recommended. Hálsur is located between the mountains Hálgafell, 546m (south) and Klakkur, 414m (north). The ride is relatively easy to walk. You can walk all the way from Klaksvík to Hálsur along a cultivation road, which is called the "love path" by the locals. If you prefer to drive up to Hálsur, this is also possible.
At Hálsur there is a place called "Á Vaktini" (lookout), where people were looking for pirates who had ravaged and robbed the population of the islands in the old days. If a pirate ship was in sight, an alarm was triggered and people could collect their most valuable items and escape from the village in safety.
Hálsur is a relatively flat area, on which you can see Klaksvík on the one hand and on the other side to Leirvík and Eysturoy.
You can easily continue the trip up to the mountain Klakkur, which is north of you, from where you can see the magnificent view of Leirvíksfjord and Eysturoy to the west. Towards the northwest is Kalsoy, where three of the island's four settlements are visible - from the south - Syðradalur, Húsar, Mikladalur; Trøllanes to the north is out of sight. Opposite you is Kunoy and on the south side is the majestic næs, Kunoyarnes. Næsset protects faithfully Klaksvík against the rugged North Atlantic Ocean. The channel to the east from Kunoy, between Kunoy and Borðoy is called Haraldssund. Last but not least, you can see the Faroe Islands fishing capital, Klaksvík.

Good advice: Always take care of nature and especially birdlife when you are in Faroese nature. Remember the good shoes for the walk, and last but not least: enjoy the view!

Tur til Hálsur/Klakkur​

Ønsker du at se Klaksvík og naboøerne fra oven, så kan en tur op til udkigsposten Hálsur varmt anbefales. Hálsur ligger imellem fjeldene Hálgafelli, 546m (mod syd) og Klakkur, 414m (mod nord). Turen er forholdsvis nem at gå. Du kan gå hele vejen fra Klaksvík til Hálsur ad en opdyrkningsvej, som af de lokale bliver kaldet “kærlighedsstien”. Gåturen tager omkring en time fra turistinformationen. Hvis du foretrækker at køre op til Hálsur, så er dette også muligt.
På Hálsur findes et sted som bliver kaldt “Á Vaktini” (udkigsposten), hvor folk holdt udkig efter sørøvere, som i gamle dage hærgede og røvede befolkningen på øerne. Hvis et sørøverskib var i sigte, blev der slået alarm, og folk kunne samle deres værdifuldeste genstande og flygte fra bygden i sikkerhed.
Hálsur er et forholdsvis fladt område, hvor du på den ene side kan se Klaksvík og på den anden side over til Leirvík og Eysturoy.
Du kan nemt fortsætte turen op til fjeldet Klakkur, som er nord for dig, hvorfra du kan se den storslåede udsigt over Leirvíksfjord og Eysturoy til vest. Mod nordvest er Kalsoy, hvor tre af øens fire bygder kommer til syne – fra syd – Syðradalur, Húsar, Mikladalur; Trøllanes mod nord er ude af syne. Overfor dig er Kunoy og på sydsiden ses det majestætiske næs, Kunoyarnes. Næsset beskytter trofast Klaksvík mod det barske, Nordatlantiske hav. Sundet til øst fra Kunoy, mellem Kunoy og Borðoy bliver kaldt Haraldssund. Til sidst, men ikke mindst, kan du se Færøernes fiskerihovedstad, Klaksvík.

Gode råd: Pas altid på naturen og især fuglelivet, når du færdes i den færøske natur. Husk de gode sko til gåturen, og sidst men ikke mindst: nyd udsigten!
