The Scott’s Addition is going through a lot of change lately. Renovations, modernizations, and upgrades to so many of the older buildings is creating quite a revitalization in this historic neighborhood. Once the home of primarily industrial businesses, some of which still remain, Scott’s Addition is quickly becoming filled with apartments, lofts, restaurants, and breweries.
Depending on your approach to GZ, you may pass a large mural on the side of a nearby building; local artists created that mural on what was once a soda bottling plant. The mural also pays homage to a number of other landmarks within Scott’s Addition including Interbake Foods – a former cookie manufacturer and producer of Girl Scout Cookies (now Cookie Factory Lofts), and gives a nod to the new vibe and businesses of Scott's Addition.
As you explore Scott Addition, look closely at the various building designs. There are several different styles of architecture that make for an interesting urban hike. As renovations continue, it will be interesting to see how developers preserve the older architecture.
