Geocache Description:

CONGRATULATIONS TO NAPRAT FOR BEING THE FTF!

This cache is placed with permission and is accessible from the Lions Club Park, Velva Court or Lilburn Park parking lots.

UPDATE - On 4/2/2021, this cache received an upgrade. PAFs for this hide before this date will not help. The cache itself is not behind the sign. It is located a few feet from the village. Its replacement reflects the isolation that the neighboring cemetery has. Enjoy the hunt and please feel free to share pictures of your adventure, of the village or of the cemetery.

A few synonyms for the word FORGOTTEN are unremembered, out of mind, past recollection, beyond/past recall, consigned to oblivion, left behind, neglected, overlooked, ignored, disregarded, or unrecognized.

One of my favorite things about geocaching is how it can draw your attention to areas you may OVERLOOK on a daily basis. This find will hopefully do just that.

Spur Trail will lead you to Camp Creek Greenway and Lilburn Park. The cache is located near the end of Spur Trail. This adventure will draw your attention to two areas. The first gem being a gnome village put together by a couple of creative girls who love hiking this trail and visiting the park.

Another gem is a small forgotten graveyard located on the other side of the railroad tracks. If you decided to visit the graveyard, please travel along Killian Hill Road on the bridge that crosses over the railroad tracks. When on the other side of the bridge, you will see the small gated graveyard.

Johnston Family Cemetery is located on Killian Hill Road about 1/2 mile southeast of Highway 29 in Lilburn, GA just past the railroad tracks bridge on the southern side of the road. This is a small cemetery with several stones only 4 of which have any writing. There is a fence that is surrounding the cemetery. There are other stones which seem to indicate a burial, but there does not appear to be writing on them. According to the sign on the gate, Nathan Marks Troop 549 had done some work in the area. Not sure of the time frame.

If anyone has any info they can share about the Johnston Family Cemetery, please feel free to share in your log.
