You can't leave that Lion there again... Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: My thanks to the last finders for their work here. They've convinced me it's gone so I'm archiving but will double-check when I'm next passing; I hate geolitter. Thanks for the logs folks; I hope you enjoyed GZ and the experience.

Geocache Description:

Set for the 2018 Winter Geolympix with permission from the National Trust. If you intend to attempt the Letter/Box Challenge on Mega day you may want to leave this until then.

The cache is NOT hidden at the given co-ords. This is the White Lion at Whipsnade, a chalk figure seen for miles around. It's behind big fences so DON'T GO THERE! Instead, work out where the cache is hidden using the info below. It's within 2 miles of the Icon/lion. Just. Very just.

Spiritual successor to GC6JW9M: You Can't Leave That Lion There, which also referenced 2SL Whipsnade Wild Animal Park. The Safari Park was established in 1926 and opened to the public in 1931. It's the UK's largest and a significant visitor attraction; 658,200 people visited last year (2017). The White Lion was added in 1933 and is the UK's largest hill figure by exposed chalk area. The 600 acre site is home to around 3,900 animals across 187 species (2017) and the White Lion is also a familiar landmark for aircraft approaching Luton Airport.

Now to the Brain Teaser! You can solve this two ways:

Method 1: The cache is hidden on National Trust land. There is a view of the Lion from the cache location. The cache is not within 0.1 miles of any physical element of any other cache. The cache is close to a public right of way. The cache is not in a dangerous location, although there are sharp things near by which need to be avoided. The exception being during a thunderstorm. The cache is hidden as close to 2 miles from the given waypoint location as I could without exceeding the 2 miles rule: the maximum distance allowed between given-coords - the icon's location - and the actual hide spot. In this case 3.218Km or 1.9995725 miles. Basically I had a full 27 inches to play with..!

Method 2: Use the boxes below to get the co-ords. Nice and simple!

Please say which method you used to find the cache in your log. Also, please DO NOT remove the stamp or ink pad. Neither is a swap - They make this cache a LetterBox/Hybrid. Thank you and good luck!
