A Cache of Ice and Fire #21 - Khal Drogo.
One of a series of caches that will take you on an adventure into the Gollans Stream area between Wainuiomata and Eastbourne. The series is designed to be accessed via either Rata Ridge Track (from the end of Lees Grove in Wainuiomata) or from the Main Ridge Track above Eastbourne. These caches are based on established Bait Lines through the reserve area. Please respect the hard work of the volunteers who work in this area - do not touch, alter, or damage any of the pest control traps. None of the caches are located near a trap - there is no need for you to come into contact with them. GPS reception in this area can be patchy - almost all of these caches are therefore hidden directly on or beside the Bait Line.
This series is named after some of the many characters from the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels (later adapted into the successful television show "Game of Thrones"). This particular cache celebrates Khal Drogo.
A Dothraki khal. He leads the largest khalasar of any khal, 40,000 strong, and has never lost a battle.
Illyrio Mopatis arranged for a marriage between Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen in return for Drogo's promise to provide Viserys Targaryen 10,000 men to retake the Seven Kingdoms. He took Daenerys to Vaes Dothrak and presented her to the dosh khaleen, who prophesied that his unborn son by Daenerys would be the Stallion That Mounts the World that will unite the Dothraki and conquer all lands. Viserys accompanied Drogo to Vaes Dothrak and grew ever more impatient for Drogo to carry out his promise. Viserys finally went too far in threatening Drogo, and Drogo killed him. With Viserys dead and the Stallion That Mounts the World in Daenerys's womb, Drogo saw no reason now to invade the Seven Kingdoms despite Daenerys's pleas.
