Geocache Description:

This is a multi-cache, and there’s no container here. Read the plaque and do a little math to find the container at a nearby restaurant.

If you’re a local, you probably think of a hospital when you hear the name John Peter Smith. The county hospital for Tarrant County is named for him. But he was actually a pioneering school founder, a mayor of the city and more.

Do you know about Smith and this Fort Worth Heritage Tree that stands in tribute to him? While the square of ground that surrounds this tree has long been surrounded by a parking lot owned by the Kimbell Art Museum, a former Fort Worth ISD administration building stood near this tree for many years. Now, the new parking lot gives this important tree some more elegant surroundings.

On the metal plaque at the posted coordinates, there are three paragraphs. The next to the last line of the middle paragraph contains THREE numbers. Add them together.

If they equal 1382, go to N 32 45.006 W 097 21.607

If they equal 1282, go to N 32 45.235 W 097 21.623

If they equal 1272, go to N 32 45.107 W 097 21.309

and

If they equal 3187, try again.

The cache is an easy find in honor of John Peter Smith, who made life easier for Fort Worth and Tarrant County citizens in many ways.

NOTE: The parking lot near the tree is usually open and free. During certain special events, the lot may be guarded or restricted to Kimbell visitors.
