WrongWayMommy: Went out today to check out the situation. Seems where this was placed has been very exposed over the last seven years, in fact it now screams, "There's probably something hiding here but don't look!" With that in mind, and due to the fact that this one has had a good run and served its STAR purpose with gusto, with 193 finds over the years, I'm going to go ahead and archive it. Thanks to all who found it over the time it was alive. Keep on caching! 😎

Fish Lake Trail was once a part of the Spokane, Portland and Seattle rail line, built by James J. Hill. Completed in 1908, the rail line was reputed to have the flattest line of any in eastern Washington, allowing faster and smoother travel from Pasco to Spokane. After being abandoned by the railway, the trail fell into disrepair. In the early 1990's a multi-year process began to convert this beautiful trail into a recreational trail for all users. The goal is to eventually have a fully paved path that stretches the original 130 mile run from Pasco to Spokane.


This cache is part of the 2018 Spokane Trains And Railroads GeoChallenge. Spokane has a strong history as a major train hub, and in many ways still is. The STAR Challenge will take geocachers on an adventure, finding caches in places significant to railroads past and present. You will visit locations featuring retired train cars, streetcar rails, bridges, graves and rail yards. Successful completion of the STAR Challenge is rewarded with a trackable Geocoin.
