Hidden Creatures are hiding all over the place - there a number mythical beasts near here
In fact there are five Mythical Beasts in the local area, three of which fall into the Hidden Creatures Challenge can you spot them on the way in.
Three on offer here are The Sphinx, Dragons and Unicorns, this event can only justify the first two of the list as the Unicorns are being searched for at GC7R39Z - In Search of Unicorns on the 2nd July 2018
A Sphinx is a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion. In Greek tradition, it has the head of a human, the haunches of a lion, and sometimes the wings of a bird. It is mythicised as treacherous and merciless. Those who cannot answer its riddle suffer a fate typical in such mythological stories, as they are killed and eaten by this ravenous monster. This deadly version of a sphinx appears in the myth and drama of Oedipus. Unlike the Greek sphinx, which was a woman, the Egyptian sphinx is typically shown as a man. In addition, the Egyptian sphinx was viewed as benevolent, but having a ferocious strength similar to the malevolent Greek version and both were thought of as guardians often flanking the entrances to temples.
I cannot promise that Sphinx will be flanking the event shelter that will be a temporary temple to geocaching and will be put up at this outside venue - what will be there will be the usual event expectations, Travel Bugs to Swap and Discover, people to chat and exchange tales with and some thing on which to record your attendance
Looking forward to seeing you on the edge of the "London Loop" on Sunday the 15th July 2018 between 11:00 and 12:00 midday
