Do you find yourself needing to streatch your legs during the drive over highway 550? Well the Cache at the Pass is a good reason to stop, take a picture at the pass sign, and get a smiley all at the same time.
From the parking you will rise about 90 feet which for locals will not be an issue, but for flat landers that live at much lower elevations.......these 90 feet might be a little rough. You will have to climb up an unmaintained hill, cross a narrow ditch of running water (able bodies can jump over it without getting wet), and walk along an unmaintained trail to get to the cache location. There is a small lake, as well as several seasonal ponds that survive with snowmelt and spring and summer rains. Mosquitos will be a factor in finding this cache depending on weather conditions. Enjoy the views of Red Mountain to the East, and the view South towards Silverton.
**Though this cache is available year round, seasonal closures of the highway during winter/summer due to snow/fire might limit access to the cache. Also it is at ground level, and though you can find this cache at any time, significant snowfall will make this cache hard if not impossible to find.
