Geocache Description:

Come and join us at Stratford Hall on July 4, 2018.  From 9:00 AM until 3:30 PM.   Normally there is an admission charge to visit this unique plantation site.  On July 4th, there is no admission fee which means if you have not found caches on this property, this is your chance for a fun, family day.  There are a number of caches which will also guide you to some of the features of this plantation.

Stratford Hall is the home of the Lees of Virginia.  There is additional information about the family in some of the descriptions of caches which may be found here.  The foundation for Stratford encourages geocaching as a  means to explore the grounds.

The event is also meant to be a learning time and to introduce geocaching to the visitors. In the past years when this has been held, there have been some new cachers who have been helped to get started and in addition, there have been folks who have started geocaching due to the exposure they had at this event.

The Lee family has two memeber who signed the Declaration of Independence and Robert E. Lee was the son of "Lighthorse Harry" Lee. The house is under restoration pretty much finished but still a work in progress.  Let's all have a great 4th.
