Transcona's reputation for a love of plastic lawn flamingos was cemented in stone in 2015. It may be a kitschy connection, but Transcona residents have been embracing their inner flamingo since the 1980’s.
City hall approved the name "Flamingo Crossing" for this section of the walking trail connecting Transcona Boulevard to the Transcona Trail. The Transcona Trails Association came up with the idea for the name, so suitable for a community with flamingo pride.
