Our first cache here on Crete.
The cache has 2 ideas behind it, first to be the most North-Eastern Cache possible on the island.
Second, to show everyone the beauty of the wild nature, lovely small mountains and crystal clear water.
Where you can enjoy a nice ride through the lands, and a lovely swim almost secluded to the world.
Our idea was to put a cache all the way on the tip of the island, on Cape Sidero, but we found out there is a naval base located here.
At the tip of the Cape and very close to the church of Agios Isidoros (Saint Isidore), stands the imposing building of the lighthouse, 15m high, which still operates. It was built in 1880 by the French Company of Lighthouses. The lighthouse and the adjacent residence of the keeper were destroyed in 1941 by the Germans and later rebuilt (1948)
The gates of the base are closed all year except on February the 4th, on the feast of St. Isdore. On this day you can visit the lighthouse of Kavos Sidero, which I would recommend.

Therefore we put our cache as far as we could go, without trespassing.
close to Téntas Beach, a wild and rough place: it sits in a small cove around which rear tall and steep massy cliffs, in which caves have formed. From the beach you can see the rocky islet of Elasa.
Sandy, with blue clear waters, it exercises a great draw on lovers of underwater fishing and diving as it is an important fishing ground.
Its isolation also makes for good unsupervised camping.
Together with astonishing views on top of the hill, we wanted to challenge you cachers to go and look for this one.
Best to do this cache together with a visit to Vai Beach, where you can find “GC3DJRG” Vai Wuthering Heights, “GC1GKA6” Palm Beach Vai and “GC48111” Itanos (Erimoupolis) Crete-Sitia.
Have a lot of fun
