I Misteri di Roma - Trintà dei Monti
La scalinata di Trinità dei Monti, capolavoro del gusto scenografico del Settecento, venne realizzata, fra il 1723 e il 1726, dall’ architetto Francesco De Sanctis.
La scalinata, edificata in travertino, è composta da una serie di rampe, 11 in tutto e ognuna formata da 12 scalini, che si dividono, serpeggiano, si riuniscono, mutando continuamente direzione. Una serie di balaustre accompagna le rampe: interrompono il forte dislivello e funzionano da punto di sosta e di godimento paesaggistico.
La grandiosa struttura, che stabiliva un raccordo fra una zona della città a forte presenza francese con la sottostante colonia spagnola, costituisce uno spazio architettonico che serve sia per il transito, ma ancor di più come luogo di incontro e di gradevole sosta.

The Trinità dei Monti staircase, a masterpiece of the eighteenth-century scenographic taste, was built between 1723 and 1726 by the architect Francesco De Sanctis.
The staircase, built in travertine, is composed of a series of ramps, 11 in all and each formed by 12 steps, which divide, meander, get together, constantly changing direction.
