About 25km from Tapah, en route to Cameron Highlands, you really can not look past Lata Iskandar (Alexander's Cascade). It is a popular place for visitors to make a brief stop, sometimes to recover from the dizzying ride along the swirling road, but almost always for a quick obligatory photo session.
Lata Iskandar is a multi-tiered waterfall with a small wading pool at its base. The main tier that you can clearly see from the road is an impressive 25-30m in height, but resumes its journey as a narrow stream once past the pool.
As the area where Lata Iskandar is located is at about 500m above sea level and shaded by thick jungle, the air is always cool and the refreshing feeling is further enhanced by a perpetual fine water spray that envelopes the area, rising from the force of the plunging water. At certain times of the day and from certain angles, a rainbow will form on the misty water spray.
Note: On weekends, the waterfall is overrun by tourists and local visitors. However, on weekdays, this is a rather quiet place and only several stalls continue operating. In short: timing is everything!
