This cache was part of the 2018 Inaugual Jacksonville Geocaching Challenge sponsored by JaxParks,Visit Jacksonville and First Coast Geocachers. Since I created this cache and was the steward during the challenge, I adopted it to keep it in play.
The cache is located at the posted coordinates. This is a gadget cache, which means you have to do something at the cache in order to obtain the log book. The History Park is open from dawn to dusk and the cache is accessible during this time.
The Beaches Museum & History Park is a free museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the distinct history and culture of the Beaches area. There is a lot of history inside the museum as well as outside in the park, including an example of Florida Cracker architecture and a steam locomotive. You may visit the exhibits on your own or you may be guided at the pace you select by one of the Museum's knowledgeable docents.
The museum hours are: Tues-Sat 10am-4pm, Sun 12pm-4pm, closed on Monday.
