Welcome to a Princes Park mini-series cache, The Island.
WIDMEDOGS has always thought that Princes Park needs more caches so we’ve placed a few and hope you enjoy them.
There is a car parking area for the park located at the bottom of Belvidere Road, (can be very busy at school drop-off and pick-up times) with roadside parking usually available along Belvidere Road and Devonshire Road nearby. Alternative parking can also be found at Windermere Terrace.
The Island, where over generations, children have played many a game of tic/tag or hide and seek.
The four stones located very near to the cache location are the foundations to a Chinese Bridge which was here in the park’s heyday.
There are plans afoot to restore the lake to it’s former glory. Originally for boating, the lake is primarily used today by fishermen. The foundations of its formerly Grade II listed boathouse, which burnt down in the early 1990s, can still be seen at the south end.
Please take care when retrieving and handling this cache and we kindly ask that you replace it exactly as found.
A writing implement will be required for this cache.
If walking with dogs, please keep them restrained around the lake as wildfowl live here, often with young.
