Torre a difesa del territorio con funzione di vedetta e segnalazione a ridosso del passaggio della strada per la Valassina. Torre a base quadrata in conci di pietra, di origine medievale, inglobata in villa nel XVII secolo. La torre, di proprietà privata, viene datata al XI-XII secolo sulla base di osservazioni effettuate sull'esterno in occasione del Censimento dei Castelli della Lombardia pubblicato nel 1991 da Regione Lombardia (Settore Cultura e Informazione – Servizio Musei e Beni Culturali) a cura di F.Conti, V. Hybsch e A.Vincenti dell'Istituto Italiano dei Castelli. Gli studiosi ipotizzano che la torre potesse assolvere un ruolo di controllo sul territorio e, trovandosi a ridosso del passaggio della strada per la Valassina, anche di vedetta e segnalazione. Non viene esclusa comunque la presenza di un castello o di un recinto fortificato nell'area: resti murari a ridosso della torre, oltre alle murature rinvenute presso l'angolo nord della villa, fanno infatti pensare a una complesso fortificato più articolato. Nell'ambito degli studi delle fonti documentarie e di archivio, Virginio Longoni segnala la citazione di una torre a Longone in alcuni atti notarili del XV e XVI secolo: in particolare nel 1513 metà di una torre “detta di Longone” è segnalata in un atto di permuta tra esponenti della famiglia Giudici. Il documento è riportato nella raccolta dei documenti d'archivio che lo studioso ha realizzato nell'ambito del progetto Torri, Rocche, Fortezze e Castelli nel Triangolo Lariano, a cura di Associazione Appuntamenti Musicali nel Triangolo Lariano (2008). Nel XVIII secolo la torre venne inglobata nella struttura di una villa e quindi dotata di piccoli balconi, di una torretta campanaria e di un orologio; nel XX secolo la parte sommitale, rettificata, è stata organizzata come terrazza-belvedere ed è stata aperta, nella muratura meridionale, una finestra a bifora. La torre, con gli edifici che oggi la circondano, è attualmente (2013) in fase di ristrutturazione. Ad oggi non risultano essere state effettuate indagini sugli alzati murari della torre, né saggi di scavo alla base della struttura. (Fonte triangololariano.it) <p/>

The tower, which is privately owned, is dated to the 11th-12th century on the basis of observations made on the exterior during the Census of the Castles of Lombardy published in 1991 by the Lombardy Region (Culture and Information Sector - Museum and Cultural Heritage Service) by F.Conti, V. Hybsch and A.Vincenti of the Italian Institute of Castles. Scholars hypothesize that the tower could fulfill a role of control over the territory and, being close to the passage of the road to the Valassina, also of lookout and signaling.
