You do need to respond in some way within 14 days, so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.

What you need to do:-

You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-

  • Check On The Cache - once checked, place an Owner Maintenance log and then enable the cache.

  • Place A Write Note Log - indicating a date when you expect it will be checked/restored.

  • Adopt Out or Archive - depending on whether you want it kept or for it to disappear.

You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of the above. Well, if the issue has not been addressed, or there is no acknowledgment as requested above, it will be assumed the cache has been abandoned and the cache will be de-listed (Archived) at the end of the 14 day period, without further recourse to the CO. Geocache Description:


Welcome to Yan Yean Reservoir! Home to Melbourne's oldest water supply. 

There's wetlands, an old pump house and homestead to explore. Wander around this pretty park, roll down the grassy hills, have a picnic, soak in the view or find a geocache. The park can get busy on the weekend and warmer months. 

You have arrived at The Caretakers Cottage, first occupied in June 1854 by resident engineer Charles Taylor. Later it would become home to a succession of caretakers and their families from 1855 - 1991.

The coordinates will take you a little further down the hill from the cottage to what is arguably the most speculation view in the park. Here you will find a large container full of swag. Since this is often the busiest part of the park on a nice be sure to practice stealth and cover the cache back up as you found it.

Please note: Yan Yean Reservior is only accessible at certain times of the day. Gate times are posted at the entrance.
