Come to think of it, it's actually quite easy to meet Mithrandir...if you live in or around Hoogeveen (Netherlands). I regularly organise events there, especially when Groundspeak issues challenges or other ways to earn souvenirs. A while ago, I figured it would be nice to expand my "reach", and start the Meet Mithrandir series. It began in Rotterdam, but since then, no other Meet & Greet-events have been hosted. As a result, I have to call this one number 2, even though it's still months away. Not sure what I'll do when I decide to host one between now and September 23rd. Anyway, let's meet up in Portland! I'm looking forward to meeting new cachers and hearing their stories.
#2: The Fellowship of the States
Why a fellowship? Well, because I'm not making this trip alone. I'm here together with Geo-Jeddak and one half of Team-Maniago. Both have already been to the USA at least once. Geo-Jeddak has even been to HQ and can tell you all about it. As for me, this is my first ever trip to the USA.
WHEN AND WHERE?
This event will take place on Sunday, September 23rd, from 15:15 to 15:45 (3:15 pm - 3:45 pm). We'll meet at Pioneer Courthouse Square, which, as I've been told, is commonly known as the "living room of Portland".
PLEASE SPECIFY THE FOLLOWING:
If you're planning to attend, please specify in your log with how many people or teams you will come. I have no idea if there is any limit to the amount of people that may gather here. I reckon a maximum of, say, 50 to 70 would do?
DURING THE EVENT:
As mentioned above, I am very curious to meet new cachers and exchange stories about our most daring adventures. We'll be geochatting, exchanging tips, tricks, hints, trackables, even more stories, handshakes, and what not. I'll be bringing a small part of my own geocoin collection for all attendees to discover!
GOOD TO KNOW:
If the weather is unfavorable, or if there are any other circumstances preventing this event from taking place, I will notify all attendees through a notification ASAP.
BANNERS:
Especially in the Netherlands and Germany, cache owners like to create 'banners': custom, collectible images that you can paste on your profile page once you found a cache or discovered a trackable. I am an extreme bannerphile and have created quite a lot of them. This event is worth one, see below! My geocoin & trackable collection consists of 19 pieces, most of which are worth a banner. I will bring five "real" ones, the ones that need to travel. The rest stays at home (wouldn't want to risk losing those!) but I can bring along a copy of each one, including a list of all codes.
