St. Mary's of Lismore, boasts itself to be the oldest church in Nova Scotia erected by the Highland Scots. Built in 1834 it is a beautiful testament to the pioneers of the area; complete with a well kept resting place on the other side of the highway. How faithful and determined they must have been to survive the clearances, famine, overseas voyages, and then carving out a living in the Nova Scotia wildnerness... We'll never know their hardships...
