Geocache Description:



This Cache is the 6th of 7 and can be combined with the caches below to make a circular route around the southern flank of Stonebarrow and Chardown Hills taking in a short section of the South West Coast Path. See: Westhay Wander - 1 (GC7RMMA) for full details about parking and the route.


From here your route begins the climb up towards Cain’s Folly. If you have time the view from the end of Cain’s Folly warrants the extra effort of a short detour via the Smugglers Path to re-join the Coast Path which will take you up to the highest point of Cain’s Folly over looking the sea. As you walk back towards the car park, see if you can spot the 3 slit trenches that were part of the inland defences of the WW2 radar station that once stood on the cliff edge here.

This cache combines with the caches below to make a circular route. The complete walk is about 4 miles (7Km), includes one steep descent and finishes on a steady climb up from Westhay to Cain’s Folly. Geodogs are welcome but please keep them under close control as you may encounter grazing animals, ground nesting birds or other fauna.

Note: The difficulty for each of the caches is on an individual basis. The Terrain takes into account the whole route and all caches involved. In winter sections of the route can be muddy, especially in gateways. You will need a pen for the micro-caches and to find the bonus you will need to collect the clues along the way, don’t worry there is a decode sheet in this cache.

The cache is a small clip-top box, with log book, pencil, etc. There is room for small tradeables or travel bug.
