Geocache Description:

IF YOU ARE NOT WITH TELSTRA IT WILL PAY TO SAVE THE CACHE TO OFFLINE

Park at the lookout to the Dam Wall. You may be lucky enough to see the Spillway open but this is a rarity due to the Somerset Region being a drought prone area.

Somerset Dam is a mass concrete gravity dam with a gated spillway across the Stanley River. The dams main purpose is the supply of potable water for the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Logan City Regions.

The Dam, Lake and surrounding Village of Somerset are named in honour of Henry Plantagenet Somerset a local gracier and owner of Caboonah Homestead.

The cache is a short stroll from the Lookout. Once near GZ there is no need to venture down the bank.
