Geocache Description:

This cache is a quick stroll from some roadside parking that brings you to a nice series of small waterfalls. I was driving past this spot when I noticed a waterfall, so I stopped off for a closer look. Unfortunately, my geocaching buddy, Geffo27, did not accompany me on this outing - he is particularly fond of a good waterfall, so I felt that I should place a cache here and name it in his honour - hopefully, he will get the chance to pay a visit some day.

There is a path leading from the lay-by parking to the waterfall but, even though the cache was placed during a very dry spell of weather, there were some pretty squelchy sections, so decent footwear is recommended. It is possible to walk very close to the water and get a great view of the crashing water - obviously, some of the rocks can be extremely slippy, so please take care. The cache is hidden slightly away from the path so, once again, watch your footing - there are some pretty boggy bits, and some well concealed streams of running water.

This was an unplanned cache placement, so the container actually started the day at the summit of Beinn Ghobhlach. I was undertaking a FTF mission and, at the request of the CO for that summit cache, I replaced their container with a sturdier click-lock box. However, the container that was initially there (a plastic spice container) seemed pretty sturdy anyway, so when I found this lovely wee spot, I decided to recycle this container and use it here!

After I placed this cache and headed off south along the road, I saw another waterfall soon after, which also had roadside parking - there was already a vehicle there, or I would have stopped for a closer look. This waterfall looked like it had a bigger drop, but I don't know if you are able to get as close to the water as you can at the spot where I placed this cache. Hopefully, if I am back in this location, I will be able to investigate this other waterfall more closely. On the topic of waterfalls, I definitely recommend a visit to Corrieshalloch Gorge and the Falls of Measach. There is an EarthCache (Premium Member Only) at this location (GC6MZD3) which is relatively undemanding, and a suspension bridge takes you right over the waterfall which has a 45m drop. It is only a 10 minute drive from this location and the views are truly spectacular - perhaps you have paid a visit already.
