This little footpath where GZ located is part of the border line of Kowloon & New Territories. However, most people may not aware of this border and still count those buildings nearby as part of Kowloon.
In the past, this area is the famous "Lai Chi Kok Amusement Park"(荔園), Paladium Theatre (百麗殿舞台) & Ruby Palace Theatre(寶麗宮), which all under the same owner.
The Lai Chi Kok Amusement Park on the west shore of Lai Chi Kok Bay in Lai Chi Kok was once the largest amusement park in Hong Kong, and attracted people from all walks of life in the territory. (wikipedia)
The Paladium Theatre was situated in Lai Chi Kok on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong. The theatre opened to business on 13th February 1983 with Cantonese opera. It had a stage and besides stage performances, selected films were also shown at the theatre. Its 1,002-seat auditorium with stalls and balcony and a stage was on the first floor of the theatre building.
Ruby Palace Theatre and Paladium Theatre operated in the same building but with different entrances and lobbies. The Ruby Palace Theatre opened to business on 11th February 1983, and showed first run Chinese language films until its closure. Ruby Palace Theatre's 1,125-seat auditorium with stalls and balcony was on the first floor of the theatre building.
Both theatres closed down in 1994 & the Lai Chi Kok Amusement Park closed down in 1997. Nowadays, the area became residential apartments.
