The Dunn House Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bronco: I picked up the container today because the Dunn House historical sign marker had been removed. Lots of new construction in the area. I won't forget the Dunn House though.

Pics of container and log attached. Thanks to all who visited. Cheers!

H= The original house on this location was a halfway house or hotel and stopover for the users of the ___ River Ox Cart Trail. Number of letters in the missing word.

O= This area had several houses that were used as hotels and stopping places for travelers. Great places to get a ____ meal and a good nights rest. Number of letters in the missing word.

T= The original halfway house burned down in the late ____s and was rebuilt soon after. Subtract 1889 from that number.

E= A large ____ and blacksmith shop were located near the location of this sign to accommodate the animals used for travel. Number of letters in the missing word.

L= The new house had __ bedrooms upstairs, 2 downstairs, a large living room, parlor and kitchen with a large dining area. A large porch surrounded 3 sides of the house.

S= Using the sign, how many words are on the 4th line of the main body?

Eventually the house was demolished. As times changed and new forms of transportation took hold, the need for such stopovers as the Dunn house changed too. Today, Coon Rapids has many hotels and restaurants serving it’s residents and those just passing through. The Dunn House was one of the first to lead the way. Please enjoy the area and history provided at this marker. Cheers!
