Bring your gloves. Welcome to the Leonards Hill Hall geocache. This Regular*-sized cache contains a log, a pen and a pencil, and some swag. Please carefully return the cache to its hiding place as you found it.
Named after timber splitter W P Leonard, who settled on the hill across the road in the 1860s, Leonards Hill is a village south of Daylesford, Victoria. At the 2016 census, Leonards Hill had a population of 45 [Source: Wikipedia page: Leonards Hill].
Once a thriving source of timber, since 2011 Leonards Hill has been best known for the two wind turbines on the hill. However, the public hall across the street from GZ has been the centre of public life in Leonards Hill for decades. The hall is the home of dances and monthly country markets. It's been the venue of an annual baby show since 1973. If you think it'd be hard being a fair and impartial judge in our criminal courts, it's got to be a walk in the park compared to the stress involved in being the judge at a baby show!
There is plenty of safe road verge parking near GZ. This is the second version of the cache. The original version was hidden in late June 2018 but vanished a month later after only seven finds. The reason it vanished was that the original GZ was behind natural cover along a fence line across the road from the hall door. The fence was replaced and removed, taking the cache with it. The original cache was created to help cachers earn souvenirs during the 2018 Hidden Creatures adventure. If you go across the road and visit the hall but find it closed, you can get an idea of what it looks like inside if you watch the music video made by Ska/Punk band,The Resignators, who recorded a music video of their song Party Dates inside the hall in 2017.
