This cache is a tribute to cacher 1701eh (Tony Dawe) and the cache that he placed in this spot in 2004.
The Parking on the Credit Series of caches still have many hides in place along great riverside trails on the banks of the Credit River.
While you may not have met Tony, his legacy is known amongst many of us cachers as he had touched so many in our community. He had dedicated himself to many activities: Scouting, hiking, camping, electronic gadgets, collecting, Sci-fi, and of course the ultimate application that pulled everything together – geocaching.
Tony's on-line identity - 1701eh - came from the number of the Starship Enterprise and the "eh" part was a little Canadian twist.
Sadly, Tony was lost to this world in 2006.
On a personal note, the cache that was 1701eh's in this spot was actually our first "DNF" - sort of.
In 2006, we were new to caching and hadn't had any finds yet. Our nephew was living with us at the time on a work term and was trying to show us how to find a cache. He manually entered coordinates in his GPS and off we went to make our first find!
Unfortunately he entered the coords incorrectly and we never found anything at the spot he took us!
Once we had a few finds and figured it all out, we came back to this spot and found the cache that was here.
