UPDATE: The front gate seems like it is remaining closed for the time being. You may get lucky and find it open. Parking is permitted in front of the gate. This will add an extra half mile walk up the road to get to the main trailhead.

If you arrive and the front gate is closed, you have permission from the landowner to park outside the gate and walk in to access the trail system. If you leave and find that the gate is closed, it will automatically open up for you to exit. At this time I have not been able to determine if the gate has a set schedule, but most often it is open all day into the early evening.
