Enjoy the history of this 600 Year Old Stump. It is located at the location of one of the many Carnegie funded libraries. Built with a grant for $10,000, from the Carnegie Foundation, the Snohomish Public Library served from 1909 until the 1980s when the building was converted into the Arts of Snohomish facility. During the late 1960s the library board added a rather unsympathetic addition that marred the front of the library but still served the community. As the library outgrew the this building, the books were packed up and moved up the road. The Arts of Snohomish has since taken over the building to continue keeping the library in public use. At the stump, you will see a sign telling you it is 12 foot 5 inches in diameter. It is a Douglas Fir that was felled in Lake Roesiger on June 15, 1940. It is estimated to be over 600 years old. So please treat this senior citizen with the respect of an honored elder!
