This is a 2 stage multi cache with on road parking available.
Patrick Brompton War Memorial is in the churchyard of St. Patrick near the outer wall at the side of the main road.
The memorial is a simple stone obelisk with a carved laurel wreath near its top. It stands on a stone plinth and commemorates 10 names from the First World War. It is dedicated :-
TO THE GLORIOUS DEAD WHO REST
IN THE DEEP SEA AND IN MANY LANDS
HAVING GIVEN THEIR LIVES THAT
1914-1918
The plinth carries the names of the 10 men from here who fell in the First World War
The co-ordinates bring you to the memorial and by using the inscription and names of those commemorated you can work out the co-ordinates for the final cache location as follows :-
The cache can be found at N54 18.ABC W001 39.DEF where
A = number of letters in Ernest's surname
B = number of letters in William R.W's surname minus 1
C = number of middle initials given for Frank Myers
D = number of letters in Frederick's surname plus 1
E = number of letters in the second word in the fourth line of the dedication
F = number of letters in Crabtree's Christian name
Checksum is 34
