The Taunton River is protected because of its outstanding resources and unique character. It is the only major coastal river in southern new England to flow freely, without a dam, for its entire length and it supports a healthy and diverse ecosystem. A grassroots partnership effort led to this designation in 20CD.
The Taunton River drops only 2A feet in elevation over B0 miles and is a perfect place to explore by canoe or kayak.
