This is the fifth in a series of caches hidden in the vicinity of a soccer field. I was inspired to hide this one by the 21st Fifa World Cup taking place right now in Russia.
This world cup has been quite extraordinary from the very beginning. To start, mainstay teams like Italy and the Netherlands did not qualify so will not be vying for the cup this time. Little known teams such as Iceland, Iran and Saudi Arabia instead are gracing this world stage.
Records are being broken. Nineteen year old Kylian Mbappe of France scored 2 goals in a single game. A teen player has not done this in a World Cup since Pele in the 1950s.
And upsets abound. Germany, the defending champion, has been eliminated early as well as Argentina and Portugal! Even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Rinaldo couldn't save their teams from elimination. And who would have thought that Russia would come out on top over Spain! They are calling this the biggest upset in the history of the World Cup.
The soccer world has most definitely been turned on its ear! And which country will take home the cup? That is anyone's guess.
I discovered Frank Stronach Park when our senior women's soccer game was moved from Fairgrounds to this lovely park. It has a huge splash pad complete with portable toilets and many places to sit and lounge. The field is state of the art and BIG!
