Benvenuti a Modica!
Modica, comune della Sicilia sud orientale, è una perla del barocco siciliano. Per molti ha l'aspetto di un presepe, per via dei suoi monumenti e delle sue innumerevoli chiese, sparsi sulle quattro colline che ospitano la città.
Un teatro era il paese, un proscenio di pietre rosa, una festa di mirabilia. E come odorava di gelsomino sul far della sera. Non finirei mai di parlarne, di ritornare a specchiarmi in un così tenero miraggio di lontananze...
Così scriveva Gesualdo Bufalino, scrittore siciliano. Sebbene siano passati degli anni da questa citazione, la luce della pietra di Modica e il suo gelsomino profumato vivono ancora tra gli scorci e le stradine che si inerpicano su e giù per i colli.
Questo geocache è stato nascosto da kalupto e gvnn in un punto un po' distante dai tanti monumenti che vedrete a Modica, ma al tempo stesso vicino a tutto: vedrete da qui San Giorgio, San Pietro, il Corso principale in cui prima scorreva un fiume... Welcome to Modica!
Modica, town in south-oriental Sicily, is famous for its amazing examples of sicilian baroque. For many people it seems like a "presepe" (the nativity scene build with little houses, animals and farmers going to Jesus after his birth), maybe for all the monuments and for the great number of churches divided between the four hills of the town.
The town was like a theather, a proscenium of pink stones, a party of wonders. And how smelled like jasmine during sunset.
I'd never end to talk about it, to go back to see myself reflected in a such tender mirage of remoteness...
These words are translated from a thought of Gesualdo Bufalino, sicilian writer. Even if it's been years since this quote, the light of the stone of Modica and its scented jasmine still live between the narrow streets.
This geocache was hidden by kalupto and gvnn in a place a bit distant from all the main monuments of the city, but at the same time close to every one: from this point you will see San Giorgio, San Pietro, the main street in which once there was a river...
