Geocache Description:


Frederick Marriott Wise died in May 1876 and is Buried under a tree on the road to Collingullie from Uranquinty. At the start for this Multi, you are on the road side behind the ELECTRIC fence for this cache. Do not touch or cross it. You are here to see the Resting Place for Frederick Marriot Wise.

The Wise family lived in the Ampeny, St Mary area of Gloucester for several 100 years and were farmers. The Wise family of Uranquinty came to Oz in 1855 with the arrival of Frederick Marriot Wise. Frederick married Mary Lamb in Sale Victoria in 1865. Their children were William Playne Wise in 1866, Frederick Wise in Marlborough Victoria, Mary Lamb in Eucha Victoria 1874 and David Lamb Wise in Uranquinty near Wagga 1876. He is listed as descendant of the 3 Edward Kings of England Through the Marriott family on his mother's side.

The death occurred at her home at Uranquinty of an old and highly respected resident of the district, Mrs. Mary Spaul, wife of Mr. James Spaul, after a long illness at the age of 65 years. Mrs. Spaul was born at Echuca (Vic.) and came to New South Wales with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wise, of Uranquinty, when a child. She had resided in the Uranquinty district for the greater part of her life, and is survived by her husband, Mr. James Spaul, whom she married in Wagga. Mrs. Spaul also leaves a family of three sons — Messrs. John, Joseph and William Spaul, of Urauquinty, and three daughters — Miss Fix this text(Nurse) Elsie Spaul and Miss (Nurse) Gertrude Spaul, of Uranquinty, and Mrs. Alfred Irvine, of Ardlethan. Others surviving are two brothers — Messrs. William and David Wise, of Collingullie; one step-brother, Mr. James Taylor, of Uranquinty, and one step-sister, Mrs. B. Weily, of Wagga.
