What does Rocket Raccoon and Cache the Bayman! have in common?
Well, for starters, who's Rocket?
Rocket is one of the reluctant Guardians of the Galaxy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yes, he's a raccoon, enhanced by illegal genetic experiments into a sentient and technically proficient being. This experience was apparently quite traumatic as he remembers having been "torn apart and put back together." At some point in his life he met plant-life Groot, with whom he became partners in bounty hunting.
But his name isn't really Rocket. Mr. Cyber-genetically Enhanced Raccoon is actually "89P13".
Which brings me to... Cache the Bayman!
No, CtB! is not a cyber-genetically enhanced racoon. (Shocker, I know.) But today, old CtB! ended up on this trail for two purposes: To set out a bunch of geocaches, and to test his modification: A 15mm long 3.5mm diameter Resolute stent in his left anterior descending artery. Being a science teacher and a former chemistry researcher, I had to dig a little deeper into this device. The Resolute stent is coated with a drug polymer to help the body accept it and embed it into the artery, and is made from a specific cobalt-nickel-chromium alloy, MP35N.
Less than six months ago, I couldn't take out the garbage without shooting up some nitroglycerin spray to open my arteries. When this cache was placed, I had just finished hiking and geocaching, on my feet the whole while, for a full three hours.
So as I had all of my camo'd caches placed, I was truckin' it back to the car at the end of Shoe Cove Road, and noticed this isthmus. Knowing where I'd placed the other caches, I thought ... there's room for one here... maybe. GPS out; coords taken. Container? Not a problem. It's a sandwich-sized container (if you scratch and sniff, you may even smell some of Nan's bread), with a logbook made from an O'Donel High School notepad, and there's even some swag: Rocket's squirt gun.
