Geocache Description:

Kirkby Stephen is a small market town in Cumbria. The town is located on the A685, surrounded by sparsely populated hill country, and about 25 miles from the nearest larger towns, Kendal and Penrith, and 12 miles from Junction 38 of the M6. The town has many cafes, pubs and fish & chips shops for refreshment and there is a large (free) car park, GC65X9Y, situated in Silver Street 100 yards from the town centre.

This cache is an addition to the Soulby / Crosby Garrett round, added because the view is too good to miss. Please do not claim a find if you have not signed the log, you will need to bring your own pen. The cache is accessible from the public highway and there is no need to enter private property to find it. Road side verges can be very soft and muddy so waterproof boots or walking shoes are advised in wet conditions. Please replace the cache exactly where found. The cache is reached along a very narrow road, be aware that you may meet farm vehicles or horse riders at any time of year. There is some short term parking near the cache but please do not leave vehicles unattended across field gates.
