Geocache Description:

Located 14 km away from Winkler, just off of Highway 3 on mile road 18N, the Winkler Aquifer Management Plan Advisory Board has established a 1/2 mile long shelterbelt composed of lilacs to help aid recharge for the Winkler Aquifer. The aquifer is a vital in supplying water to Winkler and rural communities in the eastern part of the RM of Stanley. With Winkler and Stanley growing at a rapid rate, more water is being used every year. This means more recharge will be needed for the aquifer. This shelterbelt is one of the many areas that provides recharge for the aquifer as it traps snow allowing for more water to be taken into the soil and drained down into the aquifer. Thanks to the efforts of the members of the Aquifer board for the planting and management of the lilacs, this shelterbelt will continue to provide recharge for the aquifer for years to come. The cache is in a small jar covered in camo tape.
